Online Dating Code of Conduct

Australian voluntary industry code · commenced 1 October 2024 · fully enforced from April 2025

The Mingle Movement is committed to the safety standards set out in the Australian Online Dating Code of Conduct. The Code is a voluntary industry standard developed by major dating platforms in consultation with the Australian Government to reduce the risk of online-enabled harm. It commenced on 1 October 2024 with a six-month transition, and full obligations took effect in April 2025.

Our commitments to you

  • Identity & liveness verification — every new profile must complete a full-length photo check and a live finger-count selfie reviewed by AI before they can call anyone.
  • Live video format — first interactions are short video calls, not anonymous chat, dramatically reducing impersonation, catfishing, and romance-scam risk.
  • Plain-language safety — clear rules, transparent reporting, and a visible "On a virtual date" status so you always know what's happening.
  • Reporting & response — block and report tools on every profile and call. We action serious reports promptly.
  • Data protection — your contact details are only shared after you explicitly choose to share them at the end of a date.
  • Annual transparency — like other Code-aligned platforms, we maintain internal records of our safety practices and review them yearly.

Your responsibilities

  • Use real photos of yourself and accurate profile information.
  • Treat every match with respect — harassment, abuse, and discriminatory behaviour are not tolerated.
  • Never share financial information or send money to anyone you've met on the platform.
  • Report suspicious behaviour, suspected scams, or underage users immediately.
  • Meet in public for any in-person dates and tell someone you trust.

Reporting and oversight

Complaints about a Code signatory's compliance can be raised with the independent Code Compliance Committee via the Online Dating Code website. To report a concern about another user on The Mingle Movement, use the block and report tools in-app, or contact safety@theminglemovement.app.
